Simple Jar Labels

March is such an expectant time- we’re waiting for sunshine, hoping for new projects to begin, and perhaps even counting down the days to a vacation or break from the routine. In the back of my mind, however, March means ones thing…the dreaded but necessary spring cleaning! This spring, make it easier to jump in and get started by tackling a few smaller projects that will have big impact.

If your kitchen is anything like mine, your pantry could use some well-deserved TLC. Simplify and beautify in one fell swoop with this fun labeling idea.

Follow these instructions for a clean sweep of your cabinets and then try a fun labeling project…

  • First, take stock of the items in your cabinets. Do you somehow have three bags of All Purpose Flour open? Consolidate them into one large glass jar. Have leftover pancake mix sitting on the shelf? Pour it into a sugar shaker for easy use.
  • Check for expiration dates. Throw away any food past the date. If you have extra canned goods, consider donating items to a local food pantry.
  • Once you’ve sorted through the food and consolidated opened packages and spices into glass jars, bring out the chalkboard paint! Using a spongy brush, paint a strip of the paint onto the glass container and let dry. Write in the ingredients with chalk and enjoy the clean aesthetic!
  • Reshelve items based on how often you use them: less-frequently-used items go in the back, common ingredients in the front.

And voila! A fresh pantry for a fresh new season…
