Simply Amagansett

At the Workshop we work on a variety of smaller craft projects for the TV show, television appearances, magazines, etc. And I have to say, I love that feeling satisfaction that I get when we’ve completed one of our projects. What I have made might only fit into the palm of your hand, but it really makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. Well, I’ve come to realize that it’s time for me to take on a (much) larger ‘project’, and I believe that feeling of satisfaction might be a thousand times more intense.

Basically – I just bought a new house in Amagansett, NY!  Before you get really excited, let me warn you – it is a work in progress, a diamond in the rough perhaps. Although its grey exterior might appear to be a little drab, I think its what lies inside that matters most. Decades of history embedded in dated wallpaper, beautiful wood paneling in the main living room, sliding doors galore, and a backyard that looks like extends to the depths of eastern Long Island. As the weeks progress I plan on remodeling the entire house, and transforming this place into a summer retreat. I’ll keep you posted with the progress!

That's it -- my new large-scale 'craft' project!

The 'Master Suite' -- check out the exposed beams!

Kitchen today... Master bathroom tomorrow. (Those cabinets are kind of charming... I'll be sad to see those go!)

The living room - don't you just love it? I mean just look at that wood paneling! The orange plaid pillows came with the house - I think the previous owner had to have known that orange is my favorite color and left them as a housewarming present for me.

The 'Great Outdoors' is only steps from my house! Can't wait for the trees to start blossoming!
