Simple Brownies Recipe
Sometimes the cliche is just so right. I mean, I can really get behind the idea that nothing says “Happy Valentine’s Day” better than chocolate! But there are definitely options besides that typical box of chocolates.
Think outside the store-bought heart-shaped box today and go for a fun and easy twist on brownies. These Orange and Cherry Brownies are divine. The mix of flavors- cherry, orange and nutty- complements these gooey chocolate delights perfectly. And the dash of red from the cherry pie filling makes it so festive!
All you need for the base is a box of brownie mix, so go ahead and try it…Happy Valentine’s Day!
What you’ll need…
1 box brownie mix
Zest of 1 orange, plus the juice of 1/2
1/2 cup cherry pie filling
1 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
Get started…
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare a 13 x 9 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
2. Make the brownie mix according to the directions and stir in the walnuts, orange zest and juice.
3. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish and drizzle on the cherry pie filling. Using a knife, swirl the cherries into the brownie mixture, then bake until a toothpick inserted into the brownies comes out clean, about 35 minutes.
