Rainbow Jello Recipe

At every block party, school potluck, and family birthday party my mother was famous for her beautiful Rainbow Jell0. We all know how that works: you make something that really wows people, so you bring it to the next gathering, and the next, and pretty soon you’re layering colors of Jello for every soiree! To my mom, however, this was no nuisance- it was her bright and cheerful contribution to the party. And so the beloved Rainbow Jello Recipe lives on…

Rainbow Jello

What you’ll need…

5 small packages Jell-O in different flavors and colors (red, green, yellow, blue, orange)
One 16-ounch container sour cream

Get started…
1.  Working with one flavor at a time, make one recipe of Jell-O by following directions on box and divide in half (1/2 cup each).
2.  Add 3 tablespoons water to one half and pour into an 8 x 10-inch glass baking dish. Place in the refrigerator and chill until firm.
3.  Add 1/3 cup sour cream to remaining half, set aside at room temperature, and then pour on top of the previously chilled layer.
4.  Chill again and repeat the process with remaining Jell-O packages. The 5 packages will yield 10 layers.
