Tuillery Topiaries

MATERIALS

  • Moss
  • Styrofoam ball
  • Branch
  • Kraft paper
  • Spray adhesive
  • Terracotta pot
  • Sand
  • Dirt
  • Floral foam
  • Mixing bowl

DIRECTIONS

  1. Creating the Topiary: Spread a piece of kraft paper over your work surface and cover the paper with preserved moss.

  2. Apply spray adhesive to the Styrofoam ball.

  3. Once covered in spray adhesive, roll the ball over the moss. To cover the ball entirely, you may need to repeat this process a few times.

  4. After your Styrofoam ball is completely covered in moss, set it aside.

  5. Terracotta Pot Treatment: Now it is time to spruce up the terra cotta pot! In a mixing bowl, create a mixture of: 1 Cup Sand / ½ soil / ¾ Cup Moss.

  6. Mix all of the ingredients in a medium sized bowl.

  7. Apply spray adhesive to the terracotta pot.

  8. Use your hands to apply the mixture on the pot. Make sure you rub the mixture in well.

  9. Repeat step 8 until the terracotta pot is completely covered.

  10. Once the pot is to your liking, pack a little bit of moss into the bottom of the pot.

  11. Next, cut a small piece of oasis and place on top of the moss.

  12. Assemble: Now that you have the top of your topiary and your treated pot, it is time to assemble. The first step is to press your branch into the moss covered Styrofoam ball. 2. Once the branch is attached to the moss-covered ball, place it in the floral foam.

  13. The last step is to simply pack the rest of the pot with moss.
