A Carved Watermelon Cake
If you’re serving up watermelon at your next summer party, why not make it look like a cake?
  1. Slice your watermelon into 2″ cross sections.
  2. Using the tip of your knife, carve a pattern into each layer. For dots, simply insert the tip of the knife at a slight diagonal and spin it around to hollow out a small hole. For lines cut lightly into the rind with the blade of the knife at a diagonal, then meet that cut coming in on the opposite diagonal.
  3. We suggest giving each layer a different pattern for the best effect.
  4. Re-assemble the watermelon, and cut the entirety into wedges.
  5. Top with whipped cream and fruit.
