Materials

20-30 old cork stoppers from wine bottles
Assorted shapes, sizes and colors of rubber bands
Decorative brass wire

Tools

Awl
Needle-nosed pliers

Getting Started

1. With an awl, poke through each cork stopper. String the corks on brass wire, placing them at different heights on the wire. Bring the ends of the wire together, twist, and cut with needle-nosed pliers.
2. Bring a group of corks together and attach them together by placing a rubber band around the entire grouping. Keep adding corks in the middle of the trivet until at desired size. Finish by wrapping a belt around the outside edge of the trivet.
